About Us

We are the 501(c)(3) non-profit behind Shadytel.

Part independent research lab, part museum, NT&T supports the scientific and educational goals of Shadytel. We also provide charitable contributions to independent information security researchers in need. Program activities include:

• Acquiring and maintaining historic telecom equipment for public use
• Educational activities around historic telecom equipment
• Educational activities around electronics and computer networks
• Scientific research and development in amateur radio, electronics, telephony systems, and computer networks
• Space and equipment for our members' scientific research and development needs
• Services for the amateur radio community

Funding

We are primarily funded through membership dues, supplemented with public donations. You may view our filings with the State of Washington here, and with the IRS here. We are converting our 501(c)(3) status from a Private Foundation to a Public Charity. The IRS has determined that they'll treat us as a Public Charity, and donors can rely our Public Charity status during IRS's 60 month advance ruling period. Please read the linked determination letter for more information.
